Walmart Marketside Raspberry Filled Donut Muffins Review – ★
In their words: Sweet raspberry filling
An early experience with the new-ish Walmart. Actually, my first visit to a Walmarts! None actually in LA yet, but this is in Burbank, close by. So, hello Walmart and your doughnuts!
And I spied this in the bakery. What promise this package of Walmart Donuts held. And it smelled good, too. But just so, so bad, both as a donut and a muffin. Two chances to get it right, two fails.
I go by smell a lot, so this was surprising These had neither the sweetness and glossy drenching of doughnuts, nor the fresh rich graininess of a muffin. And the raspberry smear was ridiculous. Plus, kind of stale. Also, to be honest, not all that attractive. 🙁
I’m not one to throw out food, but there were 8 in the package, and I only made it through 1.5 of them. Buh-bye.
Differences between muffins and doughnuts.
I think muffins must be more healthy than donuts, with their milk, or juice or berries, right? But Prevention says I’m wrong! Muffins have more calories, carbs and sugar.
So go for the doughnut—but avoid the ones with filling and frosting, which can be so sugary they overtake those giant muffins. Stick with plain glazed.
Obviously, that’s where their little comparison falls down: no one buys just glazed. 🙂 And muffins usually do have more whole grains, giant or not.
Note: It appears that Marketside makes most of Walmart’s bakery items, so I’m hopeful Walmart did a lot of taste tests and the other ones are much better.
