Pepperidge Farm Milano Cookie Cake Review – for when you run out of Pepperidge Farm cookies- or maybe not
My favorite Pepperidge Farm cookie is the Double Milano. The dark, slightly bitter chocolate filling really goes nicely with the bland white cookie. (Although it would be better if it was a shortbread cookie. 🙂 )
So when I saw this Pepperidge Farm cake on sale in Gelson’s, even though I haven’t bought any Pepperidge Farm cakes in years, it was a no-brainer.
The box describes it as: “chocolate buttercream and crumbled cookies“. The vanilla cake has a nice texture and flavor, and Pepperidge Farm is generous with their creamy moist chocolate frosting, slathered on the top, in the layers, and on the sides.
I see chocolate liquor and butter in the ingredients, which makes me happy to see real food items. (Not sure if the butter is in the cake or the frosting – I think frosting.)
However…this is not Milano frosting, at least the Milano chocolate in their cookies; it’s milk chocolate! And the cookie crumbs are slightly appealing but not worthy of being mentioned in the title, either; they get lost in the chocolate frosting.
I do like the cake, but the name doesn’t match the food, and it’s not very special; I would buy it only on sale again.
What others are saying about Pepperidge Farm Milano Cookie Cake
The Impulsive Buy investigates how Milano cookies were invented! (Hint: it was a melted mistake.) She also measures the size of the cake! And compares it to Playboy Magazine!
He or she does agree with me that the cookies were remarkably shortchanged in the cake. I have also borrowed this excellent photo from them.
And check out those comments: #4 takes the cake.
Columbus Dispatch says the cake is light with creamy frosting, but is not related to the cookies. (They don’t mention Playboy, or any men’s magazines at all.)
Where can I buy it?
Tbh, I thought it was discontinued, but Instacart has it here – along with the nutrition facts.
Amazon has Pepperidge Farm Milano cookies and here they have over 200 other Pepperidge Farm cookies. You’re in Luck!

2.5 stars, mostly for the frosting.
