How to make better toast

I have a bad carbon footprint for making toast.

On the nutrition side, I switched from white bread to grainy or dark bread many years ago, so that part is good. (I even like dense grainy bagels and English muffins  and crumpets, too!)

And I only eat toast, not plain bread, unless it’s freshly baked (yum). The thing is…I don’t like toasters. Or toaster ovens. (What is the point of them again?)

Microwave is fast, but then you don’t get the slightly burnt/toasted/charred edges.

That leaves my big electric stove. That’s right,  just to make toast, I turn it all the way up to broil, slice the bread and put it down on a piece of tin foil, wait 30 sec, turn it over and put some butter on so it melts just right, and Bob’s your uncle! I hurt the environment, and I’m sorry. But I wanted good buttered toast.

Why did Traitor Joe’s stop selling comb honey?

Honey is optional on my toast, along with the guilt. Trader Joe’s had some EXCELLENT honey, with honeycomb, called Honey with Comb, until a month ago. That’s right, just when I needed to get more, they’ve tossed it. Typical Traitor Joe’s, who are really not reliable if you like food. Their Turkish Honey is pretty good, but nothing to dream about.

Oh, look what I found: a reason why they might have stopped selling the comb. From Honeybeesuite.com:

Comb honey is always raw. Most beekeepers no longer sell comb honey because the wax combs are more valuable to the beekeeper intact or melted down and sold as candles or used in cosmetics. Also, comb honey can be tricky to produce. As a result comb honey is quite expensive and the market for it is limited, although it is gaining in popularity again.

Don’t you hate people who burn candles with real beeswax, when they’re depriving you of honey toast?
