Chocolate Press

Cartoon credits for D Barstow

I’ve been doing food and restaurant cartoons for over 15 years for big and alternative newspapers, including the LA Times for 5 years, the award-winning Taste section in Minneapolis Star Tribune, Nashville Weekly, Philadelphia Daily News, Albany Times-Union, and many more.  That’s pretty fun!

You can also find my general (New Yorker type cartoons) in Parade, The New Yorker, Harvard Business Review, Barrons, Glamour, and even Weight Watchers. (Even chocolate ones!) To get notified of all new cartoons, like my Facebook page. Or join me on Instagram.

DEAD AND BURIEDMy cartoons about relationships and other mental health topics are in Psychology Today and PsychCentral (now owned by Healthline.)

I have two traditionally published books out and in print,  What Do Women REALLY Want? Chocolate!, (of course!) and Love Me or Go To Hell: True Love Cartoons . More info on the chocolate book here. I also edited a Barnes & Noble cats & chocolate calendar that includes several talented cartoon ladies.

There is no chocolate in this review, alas.

Excerpts from there:

  • Actually, We Bring You Art Every Single Week, LA Times Magazine — Rick Wartzman, Editor
Before you soak in the stunning imagery in this special issue of West, please turn back to page 5, if you missed it. That’s where one of my favorite pieces of art resides. I am referring to Donna Barstow’s cartoon…
  • I started working with Donna Barstow after many phone discussions about the nature of editorial cartoons, and the flexibility of the genre. There was an opportunity to try something different, and we embarked on it together. Her work is unique in both style and viewpoint. Her work ethic is unmatched as she strives to create cartoons that are relevant, unusual, and very pointed (and often quite hilarious)  — Shena Wolf, Editor  Universal Press Syndicate
  • I love your spirit of creativity and enthusiasm for trying out new things. Dr. John Grohol, PsychCentral
  • Best ever, Donna. It’s a privilege to publish your weekly work. Paul Noah, editor Dayton City Paper
